The Educe Standard: Why We Invest More in Education Than Any Salon in Orlando

Jun. 25, 2026

By Alicia Rosado | Co-Owner, Educe Salon Orlando There's a version of running a salon that's about filling chairs, moving product, and keeping the schedule packed. We chose a different version.

When Phillip and I built Educe, we built it on a foundational belief that has never wavered: the quality of your experience in our chair is a direct result of the investment we make in the people behind it. And that investment, above everything else, is education.

This isn't a marketing line. It's a business philosophy that shapes every hiring decision, every team meeting, every dollar we spend, and every standard we hold.

Here's what it actually looks like in practice — and why it matters to you as a client.

Every Stylist Is Trained Before They Touch a Client

At most salons, a new hire goes through a brief onboarding and then starts taking clients. At Educe, that's not how it works.

Every stylist who joins our team goes through an in-house evaluation and training process before they are permitted to work on the floor. We assess their technical skills, their consultation ability, their knowledge of the products we use, and their understanding of our standards.

That process is not quick. And it's not comfortable for everyone. Some people leave because they realize our bar is higher than they expected. That's okay. We'd rather have a smaller team of exceptional stylists than a full floor of mediocre ones.

For our clients, this means that the person doing your hair — regardless of their seniority level on our team — has been vetted by us personally. You don't get our worst. You get our minimum standard, which is already high.

Ten or More Classes Per Year — Per Stylist

On average, every stylist on our team attends ten or more educational classes per year. These range from advanced cutting techniques and color theory to business education and client experience training.

Some of this education is brought in-house — we bring educators and platform artists directly to Educe so our entire team benefits at once. Some happens at external events, like the Premiere Show in Orlando, one of the largest professional hair shows in the world. And some happens at the source — at L'Oréal Professionnel's academy in New York City, and some happen internationally with L;oeal Professionnel global experience!

This year, we took a group of our top-performing stylists to NYC for an advanced color education program — the Complete Blonding Series — at the L'Oréal Professionnel Academy. These are the stylists doing your hair.

What Advanced Education Actually Changes

People sometimes ask: does it really matter? Is there actually a difference between a stylist with standard training and one with ongoing advanced education?

Yes. Profoundly.Advanced education changes how a stylist thinks. It's the difference between a stylist who can execute a technique they've been taught and a stylist who understands the theory behind it well enough to adapt when something unexpected happens mid-service. It's the difference between a colorist who can match a photo and one who can look at your hair's undertones, your skin tone, your lifestyle, and your history — and create something specifically designed for you.

We've seen what happens when education stops. Stylists plateau. Techniques get stale. And clients — who are always evolving in their taste and expectations — eventually feel it. We don't let that happen.

L'Oréal Color Trophy: Competing at the Highest Level

One of our most meaningful educational commitments has been our involvement with the

L'Oréal Professionnel Color Trophy competition — the world's longest-running hair competition, with five award categories and participation from salons across the globe.

Educe Salon has placed in this competition multiple years. Phillip Rosado has been recognized as a national finalist. These aren't vanity awards — they're the result of our team pushing against the highest standard in the industry, being evaluated by some of the most respected names in hair, and coming back with recognition that we're doing something right.

For our clients, this means you're sitting in a salon whose work has been seen and validated at a national level.

A Culture Built Around Sharing Knowledge

One of the things we're most proud of at Educe is that our team isn't competitive with each other. They share. They teach each other. When Phillip comes back from an education event, he doesn't keep what he learned to himself — he brings it to the floor.

That culture of knowledge-sharing is intentional. We actively build it. Because we know that a team that learns together stays together — and produces better work.

We've also host in-salon education classes, including one where Jaden Rosado and Miranda Bain brought back techniques from the German team they learned in Vienna Austria , directly at Educe. Education doesn't just happen when we travel. It happens here.

What All of This Means If You're Choosing a Salon in Orlando

There are a lot of salons in Orlando. We know that. And we know that choosing where to trust your hair is a real decision.

Here's what we can honestly tell you about Educe:

  • Every stylist has been evaluated and trained in-house before taking clients
  • Our team completes more continuing education than any salon we know of in Central Florida
  • We are a recognized L'Oréal Professionnel partner salon with national competition credentials
  • Phillip Rosado is a L'Oréal Professionnel national artist and educator with 30+ years of industry experience
  • We offer complimentary consultations because we believe you should meet us before you commit
  • We have been recognized as a Top 100 L'Oréal Salon and voted the #1 Hair Salon in Orlando by Hoodline

We built Educe to be the salon we wished existed when we were clients. A place where you can trust that whoever is behind you in that mirror actually knows what they're doing. Where the standard never slips. Where the investment in your experience never stops.

That's not a promise we make lightly. It's one we've been keeping since 2012.
